4 Arne Jacobsen Series 7 (3701) Chairs made by Fritz Hansen
For sale is an interesting combination of 4 Black Series 7 chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen and produced in Denmark by Fritz Hansen. These chairs are finished in one of the original 4 color options from the 1955 production run. They are not perfect in anyway but have an amazing patina. The bump stops and plastic feet could be replaced on some of the chairs. Right now all the bump stops are original. Here is the interesting part. 1 chair from the 50's, 2 from the early 60's and 1 from the 70's. I've been told these 4 chairs have been used as a set for over 40 years. Chair 1: has a "property of U. S. International Agency" sticker. This chair is one of the earlier chairs from the mid 50s, probably only a couple of years after the launch in 1955. This is also the only chair that has nickel plated legs before they switched to chrome. This also has the very rare nickel plate with simple embossed FH logo and the word Denmark. This chair also has the original bump stops, they are chipped and don't have much flex in them. The little plastic black feet seem to be from a Series 7 chair from the 70's Chair 2 & 3: This pair was produced in December of 1963 - the 4 digit number 1263 is what provides that information. Chair 4: Is missing the plastic cap as this was most likely produced in the 70's. (Fritz Hansen switched to plastic caps in 1966)
