RARE Vittorio Bonacina rattan Chair and Ottoman designed by MIZU TOMOKO. This rattan chair and ottoman is an extremely rare pair. The ottoman was designed by Mizu Tomoko in 2008 under the product name Taiko. chair is 26 inches high and 26 inches around with a seat height of 16 inches. ottoman is 26 inches around with a top height of 16 inches. The Chair and Ottoman were handmade in Lurago d"Erba section of Italy, right outside of Milan in 2008 by the Vittorio Bonacina Company. We purchased the chair and ottoman from a high end furniture consignment store in the Chelsea section of NYC back in 2014. It has been well taken care of and barely used. There is only one broken rattan piece Mizu Tomoko- She was born in Tokyo. She obtained the Master of Domus Academy at the Industrial Design course in Milan in 1988. Her professional training is “Designer of Clocks” and in Japan she works for Seiko Watch Corporation in Nagano and Tokyo. As Interior Designer and Interior Co-ordinator works both in Tokyo and in Milan, where she founded her own studio in 1994. She participates in numerous exhibitions, her pieces have been published in Italian and international magazines. Vittorio Bonacina Company- Giovanni Bonacina started his business in 1889 in Lurago d’Erba, located in a hilly, fertile part of the area north of Milan known as Brianza, combining two traditional crafts practiced in the area, basketry and furniture making, using the local materials reed and cane, with rattan from Southeast Asia. His hard work and experience produced excellent results, and his efforts were rewarded with awards in international expositions and numerous important commissions. in 2015 the company changed the name to Bonacina1889- Vittorio Bonacina by acquiring the brand Pierantonio Bonacina brings together two historical entities of the design world and creates Bonacina1889 s.r.l
